Nanaimo RCMP are trying to reunite the rightful owner with some stolen jewelry which they recovered from a suspect last week.

Police say the jewelry was recovered during an incident that occurred just before 11 a.m. on September 6 at the Nanaimo Yacht Club at 400 Newcastle Avenue.

A man was seen by the caretaker of the Yacht Club attempting to break into one of the boats. When officers arrived the man resisted arrest and after a brief struggle he was taken into custody.

A search of the suspect found a number of pieces of jewelry in his clothing. The items include a ruby ring, silver ladies watch and a gold chain with a diamond pendant (pictured above).

The 32-year-old man faces charges of Assaulting a Police Officer and Causing a Disturbance and has been released to await a future court date.

Anyone who recognizes the items shown or has information about them is asked to contact the Nanaimo RCMP non-emergency line at 250-754-2345 and quote file # 2020-32733.
