A secondary school in Port Alberni has been added to Island Health’s list of COVID-19 exposures after a positive case of the virus was found.
Island Health says the exposure at Alberni District Secondary School occurred on November 27.
In a letter to parents, School District 70 said that contact tracing has been completed to identify any staff or students who need to self-isolate and monitor for symptoms.
The notification comes days after three elementary schools and a distributed learning centre in the North Island community were also added to the list.
All exposure events are listed on the Island Health website.
The health authority says that parents who have not been contacted by officials should rest assured their children have not had a high-risk exposure, and can continue to attend school as long as they are not experiencing symptoms.
