Take a virtual tour through this year’s Festival of Trees at the Bay Centre (VIDEO)

Share

For the past 29 years, Festival of Trees has been the unofficial kick off to the holiday season in Victoria. It has traditions that go all the way back to 1991; traditions that are especially important to the community of Victoria during this time of year.

With the new Provincial Health Order extended to January 8, BC Children’s Hospital Foundation (BCCHF) has pivoted to ensure this community tradition remains alive, safe and available to all – even from the comfort of your own home!

While the trees remain on display at the Bay Centre for public viewing, a new video has been crafted to allow the public to take a cruise through the trees – virtually.

You can take a look at this year’s tree lineup in the video below; and don’t forget to text to vote for your favourite tree by making a $5 donation to BCCHF!

Also, if you’re a business who wasn’t able to participate at the Bay Centre this year, or even an individual or a family who has always loved Festival of Trees , there’s now the option to set up your very own virtual Festival of Trees page; and join in on this year’s magic free of charge!

Simply visit www.bcchf.ca/FOT and register under the “Participate” button by selecting Victoria as your location.

“While our holiday plans go on pause this year, the healthcare of BC’s sickest kids can never rest,” says Lacey Sheardown, Festival of Trees Committee Chair.

“We hope you consider registering your business or family to participate virtually, or vote for your favourite tree either at the Bay Centre or by watching our virtual tour. From all the volunteers on the Festival of Trees committee, thank you and Happy Holidays!”
