COVID-19 exposures reported at two separate Vancouver Island schools

Share

A school in Shawnigan Lake and another in Parksville have each reported COVID-19 exposures over the past week.

Island Health reports that the exposures occurred at Woodwinds PASS Alternate School and Shawnigan Lake School on these dates:

  • Woodwinds PASS Alternate School, January 20th, 21st, & 22nd, 2021
  • Shawnigan Lake School, January 18th-20th, 2021

Island Health says in cases where exposures at schools occur, individuals who are identified as close contacts with the positive case are asked to self-isolate and monitor for symptoms for 14 days.

Phone calls and letters are typically sent to staff and parents of students who have been identified as coming in close contact with infected individuals.

Those who received a phone call will be asked to self-isolate for 14 days, while those who received a letter will be asked to self-monitor for symptoms.

Anyone who did not receive a phone call or letter is advised to continue attending school as normal.
