Victoria Police have arrested a man who was sought Canada-wide after his parole for a manslaughter conviction was revoked.
VicPD did not release the man’s name or any information why his parole was revoked, but did say they were notified by Nanaimo Parole that the wanted man was in the Victoria area.
At around 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, a VicPD officer who was searching for the man spotted him in the 1600-block of Quadra Street.
As the officer moved in to arrest him, the man fled but was taken into custody after a brief foot chase.
The man was later transferred to the custody of the Correctional Service of Canada.
