Campbell River RCMP announced on Monday that they have made an arrest in the murder of a man that occurred last October.

The 60-year-old homeless man was severely beaten outside of the Royal Bank on Shopper’s Row in Campbell River on October 15th, 2020.

He later died of his injuries on October 17th, 2020.

Officers with the Campbell River Major Crimes Unit say that on January 28th, 2021, they charged Justin William Arnett with second-degree murder in relation to the death of Dean Dool.

Arnett has been held in custody for an appearance in Provincial Court on Tuesday.

“These charges are one of the first steps in helping to bring closure to the victim’s family and friends,” said Inspector Jeff Preston.

“Our thoughts will still be with them as this case works it’s way through the court system.”
