A Nanaimo woman is $75,000 richer after matching five of six numbers on a BC/49 draw in December.

Myrna Jansen was on the phone with her sister going over the winning numbers from the BC/49 draw on December 23rd, 2020, and was in complete disbelief when her sister told her she matched 5/6 numbers plus the bonus.

“We call each other on draw nights to review the numbers,” Jansen told the BC Lottery Corporation.

“At first I thought I had matched 5/6 numbers and won $750 and was happy with that. Then my sister asked if I had the bonus number and said I won $75,000! I could not believe it!”

The Nanaimo resident purchased the ticket from Woodgrove Centre on Island Highway and was at home when she found out the news.

Jansen enjoys travelling to visit different casinos for entertainment and plans to use part of her prize to visit some in Kamloops, Kelowna and Penticton when it’s safe to do so.

On how it feels to win, Jansen said “It feels incredible! Unbelievable!”
