Environment Canada has issued a wind warning for Greater Victoria.
According to the weather agency, an intense pacific cold front will cross Vancouver Island today.
Strong westerly winds will develop in the wake of the front this afternoon, especially near Juan De Fuca Strait.
West winds of 70 km/h gusting to 90 are expected to develop near Juan De Fuca Strait Sunday afternoon.
Winds will begin to ease by late Sunday evening as a ridge builds over the region.
Environment Canada warns of damage to buildings, such as to roof shingles and windows, may occur.
“High winds may toss loose objects or cause tree branches to break.”
