VicPD arrest man who threatened two pedestrians with knife

VicPD arrested a man Tuesday afternoon after he threatened two pedestrians with a knife in downtown Victoria.

Shortly before 10 a.m., on May 4th, officers responded to a call to the 1300-block of Wharf Street of reports that a man brandished a knife and threatened to harm two men.

According to VicPD, the victims were working in the area, standing in a parking lot, when an agitated man approached them with the knife. The victims attempted to de-escalate the situation, but the man became more aggressive and then abruptly left the parking lot.

When officers responded, they located him behind an abandoned building near the scene of the incident.

Officers arrested the man without incident and found a knife in his possession. .

The suspect was transported the man to VicPD cells where he was held in custody, and he faces recommended charges of assault with a weapon, uttering threats, and breach of probation.
