Another day, another winner in Greater Victoria.

Kulvinder Bains of Victoria said she was in disbelief when she found out her BC Mountains Scratch & Win ticket netted her a prize of $50,000 the most you can win on that ticket.

Bains purchased her ticket from Pharmasave on Royal Oak Drive and was at home when she discovered she had won.

“I didn’t really believe it at first,” Bains recalled. “I was in disbelief!”

Bains immediately shared the news with her daughter, who was also ecstatic upon finding out.

“I think she was more excited than I was,” said Bains.

Bains plans to put her prize towards a new car, according to the BC Lottery Corporation.

Last week, a Sooke resident won the $1-million guaranteed prize playing the Lotto 6/49 on  March 24th.

Patrick OLeary says one of his favourite pastimes is mowing the lawn, during which he dreams about travelling and retirement.

OLeary, a 20-year excavator operator, says those dreams are now more like reality after winning his ticket purchased from the Petro Canada on Sooke Road.

He discovered his ticket was a winner after scanning it at a drugstore in Sooke where he likes to buy his cream every Saturday.

The Vancouver Islander said he immediately shared the news with his fiance.

“Her first reaction was disbelief as I tend to joke a lot,” OLeary admitted, “but I would never joke about something like this. Once she realized this was true, she was shocked and repeated ‘Oh my God, Oh my God, Oh my God!’,” he said.
