The BC Ministry of Health reported 45 new cases of COVID-19 on Friday July 9th.
There have been 148,031 cases of COVID-19 since the pandemic began.
New cases were reported in these health regions:
- Vancouver Coastal Health: 14
- Fraser Health: 8
- Island Health: 4
- Interior Health: 19
- Northern Health: 0
There are currently 661 active cases of COVID-19 in the province.
145,594 people who tested positive have recovered.
There are now a total of 73 people in hospital due to COVID-19, 19 of whom are in critical care — ICU or acute care units.
There were no reports of deaths from COVID-related causes, making the provincial death toll at 1,760.
Outbreaks
There are currently 3 outbreaks in acute-care facilities: Laurel Place at Surrey Memorial Hospital, Eagle Ridge Hospital (Fraser Health) and Royal Inland Hospital (Interior Health).
Island Health:
Island Health reported 4 new cases of COVID-19 in the Vancouver Island region and 22 active cases.
Breakdown of cases on Vancouver Island:
- South Vancouver Island Active cases: 7 (+4)│Total Cases: 1980
- Central Vancouver Island Active cases: 12 (+0) │ Total Cases: 2491
- North Vancouver Island Active cases: 3 (+3) │Total Cases: 706
3 people remain in hospital with 1 in ICU.
There have been no new deaths in the Island Health region today, and a total of 41 deaths on Vancouver Island.
Vaccinations
79.7% of all eligible adults in B.C. and 78.6% of those 12 and older have received their first dose of a COVID-19 vaccine.
In addition, 44.2% of all eligible adults in B.C. and 41.3% of those 12 and older have received their second dose.
To date, 5,565,983 (+161,936) doses of the COVID-19 vaccine have been administered in BC; 1,915,919 (+143,324) of which are second doses.
