Here’s how you can take a puppy cuddle break this ‘Work Like A Dog Day’

As many employees return to the office after a long hiatus, it can be a difficult adjustment.

For some, it has been over a year since they transitioned to working full or part time from home.

Previous to the pandemic, the St. John Ambulance BC and Yukon offered a service bringing therapy dogs and their handlers to hospitals, care homes, schools, workplaces and more on a weekly basis to provide visits and cuddles.

Interactions with therapy dogs have been proven to decrease stress levels, anxiety, and simply provide moments of undistracted joy.

The service has been on hold for a year due to COVID-19, but now, the team is back for Work Like a Dog Day on August 5th!

Those interested can sign up to have the therapy dogs make a one hour-visit to help provide employees with a stress-free work break. Virtual visits are also available.

“Work Like a Dog Day is all about celebrating those who put in that extra effort and care all year long to their work. Given that our therapy dog teams are the most caring workers we know, we thought this was the perfect day to reunite them with their communities.” said Anna Boekhoven, manager of fund development and partnerships at St. John Ambulance B.C. & Yukon.

You get a break to de-stress and visit with some cute pups and they get cuddles! It’s a win-win!
