Two separate men reported missing from Nanaimo area

RCMP are asking the public for help to locate two different people who have been reported missing from the Nanaimo area.

The first man, Shadoe Lake, was reported missing by his grandmother, who resides in Newfoundland.

She told police that her 29-year-old grandson lives a transient, high-risk lifestyle and she is concerned for his wellbeing.

Lake is known to travel between Oceanside and Nanaimo and has frequented homeless shelters in both areas. He is described as a white male, 6 feet tall with a slim build, blonde hair and blue eyes.

Another Nanaimo man, Matthew Santoro, was reported missing to the RCMP on June 29, 2021. His family told police they last heard from him on May 21, 2021.

Investigators searched for 34-year-old Santoro with extensive patrols throughout Nanaimo, but have been unable to locate him. They are also following up on a lead that he may have travelled to the mainland.

Santoro is described as a white male, 5 feet 7 inches tall, approximately 160 pounds, with short brown hair and brown eyes.

Anyone with information on the whereabouts of Shadoe Lake or Matthew Santoro is asked to contact the Nanaimo RCMP non-emergency line at 250-754-2345.

For information on Shadoe Lake, file #2021-24887 should be quoted.

For information on Matthew Santoro, file #2021-23871 should be quoted.
