VicPD officer head-butted during arrest of stabbing suspect in downtown

VicPD are investigating a stabbing in downtown Victoria yesterday.

The incident occurred on Saturday, July 24th just after 8 a.m at the intersection of Broad and Johnson streets.

In a media release, police said they were called about a fight and when officers arrived, they found a person heavily bleeding from a stab wound.

Officers rendered first aid until paramedics arrived took over medical care and transported the victim to hospital.

Police said the victim’s injuries now appear to be non-life-threatening.

The 500-block of Johnson Street was closed for several hours as officers investigated.

A short time later, officers located the suspect nearby in the 900-block of Pandora Avenue.

The suspect head-butted an officer while being taken into custody. The officers injuries were described as non-life threatening.

Police were able to arrest the suspect without further incidents.

Several weapons were recovered and the suspect was transported to jail.
