Victoria, get ready to laugh!
Between August 20th and 24th, Comedy Here Often? is running The Pretty Good Comedy Festival—a four night comedy festival featuring live comics at multiple venues across Victoria including the Victoria Events Centre, Hecklers, Canoe Club, and Hermann’s Jazz club.
This “Rifflandia-style” comedy festival will bring the best of local and national Canadian acts right here to Victoria, said event organizer, Dan Duvall.
“You don’t have to go on Netflix to see amazing comedy; we’re bringing it right to you,” Duvall told Victoria Buzz.
“Comedy is having a major resurgence in Victoria and we hope this comedy festival becomes a regular event.”
The four night event will include comedians performing at a variety of shows across venues; among them is Katie Ellen Humphries of award winning comedy cabaret, Atomic Vaudeville; Just For Laughs performer, Chris Gordon; and Juno-award winner for Best Comedy Album in 2019, Dave Merheje.
Each show will be recorded and shared to Comedy Here Often?’s social media channels, which is an avenue that has opened up a whole other world of possibilities, Duvall said.
“During the pandemic, we put things on hold, but began to put content on TikTok and it blew up. So now that we have the option to do both live and recorded performances, we’re taking every chance we can.”
