BC health officials report 457 new cases of COVID-19 on Tuesday, October 26th

The BC Ministry of Health reported 457 new cases of COVID-19 on Tuesday, October 26th.

There have been 202,973 cases of COVID-19 since the pandemic began.

New cases were reported in these health regions:

  • Vancouver Coastal Health: 61
  • Fraser Health: 176
  • Island Health: 55
  • Interior Health: 83
  • Northern Health: 88
  • Resident outside Canada: 0

There are currently 4,829 active cases of COVID-19 in the province.

195,646 people who tested positive have recovered.

There are now a total of 390 people in hospital due to COVID-19, 155 of whom are in critical care — ICU or acute care units.

There were 2 new COVID-19 related deaths since yesterday, bringing the provincial death toll to 2,131.

From October 18th to 24th, people not fully vaccinated accounted for 64.1% of cases.
From October 11th to 24th, they accounted for 76.2% of hospitalizations.

Outbreaks

There have been no new health-care facility outbreaks. There are currently a total of 28 outbreaks in the province. There are none on Vancouver Island.

Island Health:

Island Health reported 55 new cases of COVID-19 in the Vancouver Island region and 579 active cases.

Breakdown of cases on Vancouver Island:

  • South Vancouver Island  Active cases: 145 │Total Cases: 4,359
  • Central Vancouver Island Active cases: 259 │ Total Cases: 4,736
  • North Vancouver Island  Active cases: 47 │Total Cases: 1,269

There were no new deaths reported in the Island Health region today, and a total of 86 deaths on Vancouver Island.

 

Vaccinations

89.6% (4,155,181) of eligible people 12 and older in BC have received their first dose of COVID-19 vaccine and 84.5% (3,918,385) have received their second dose.

In addition, 90.1% (3,896,273) of all eligible adults in BC have received their first dose and 85.2% (3,683,380) have received their second dose.

To date, 8,171,136 doses of the COVID-19 vaccine have been administered in BC; 3,918,385 of which are second doses.
