Residents of Greater Victoria could help shape the new face of Mayfair Shopping Centre.
In partnership with Ascend Planning and Cascadia Architects, commercial real estate firm, Central Walk, has initiated the formal process with the City of Victoria to consult with the community about the long-term future of the shopping centre .
Mayfair intends to undergo a major transformation with the area being pitched as a mixed-use destination offering housing, employment, retail, food and beverage, recreation, civic and educational opportunities.
This first phase of public engagement activity is intended to raise public awareness about the development possibilities for the shopping centre, build relationships with community stakeholders, and engage the City of Victoria in a substantive dialogue about the future of the property.
Planners intend to work closely with the Burnside Gorge Community Association to ensure that the needs of those closest to the project will be attended to.
The goal is to formally submit a plan for rezoning in early spring of 2022.
Neighbourhood open houses will take place on November 1st and November 2nd.
