VicPD are seeking information into a series of fires at various apartment buildings’ parking lots in James Bay on Tuesday morning.
Officers responded at 3 a.m. on Tuesday morning to a report that there was a suspicious vehicle fire in the 800-block of Academy Close.
As officers arrived, firefighters were in the process of extinguishing the flames.
VicPD reported that the fire was set in the underbuilding parking area which damaged two vehicles, as well as the exterior walls and exterior floor of the above residential suite.
The fire has been determined to be arson.
In another incident later that morning, officers were called to reports of a small fire at an apartment building parking structure in the 900-block of Humboldt Street.
Officers discovered evidence of a small, deliberately set fire that failed to ignite.
Then, at 7:30 a.m. that same morning, firefighters called officers to another apartment building parking area, this time in the 100-block of Douglas Street.
According to VicPD, a fire set under a canopy caused damage to the exterior walls of the building.
The last fire, set shortly after 1 p.m. damage caused by another small, deliberately set fire that failed to fully ignite was discovered at a second multi-unit residential in the 100-block of Douglas Street.
While there were no injuries, these incidents are currently being investigated.
VicPD is asking anyone with information about these incidents, dashcam or surveillance footage from these areas from between 1 a.m. Tuesday morning and 1 p.m. Tuesday afternoon, to call their non-emergency line at (250) 995-7654.
