An early morning fire at a residence in Langford has been considered suspicious.

In a media release, West Shore RCMP said they were called to assist the Langford Fire Department around 4 a.m. at a residential fire in the 2800 block of Rita Road.

Police said all three occupants of the home were able to escape without injuries.

Police have taped the residence and are treating the fire as suspicious.

“We have secured the residence to conduct a thorough investigation and to allow for a proper collection of evidence to determine the source of the fire,” said Cst. Alex Bérubé, spokesperson for the West Shore RCMP.

“We are asking anyone who may have video surveillance or may have witnessed anything suspicious prior to the fire, to contact the West Shore RCMP.”

Photos from the scene show extensive damage to the rear of the home.

No other details on how the fire started were released.
