A new 20-storey hotel proposed for downtown Victoria has been approved by city council.
Victoria City Council recently approved the Wintergarden Hotel – a 20-storey, 31,000-square foot, 128-unit hotel located at the corner of Fort Street and Blanshard Street.
The hotel will boast a terrace, restaurant, bar and cafe.
Neighbours of the new hotel will also be undergoing construction to its exterior as the developer Merchant House Capital has received approval to upgrade the Montrose Apartments on the corner of Blanshard and View Streets.
The heritage building has a ground-floor retail space and 21 apartment units.
The plan was approved on November 4th by council – Councillor Ben Issit opposed the rezoning and heritage designation motions.
No timeline has been set for construction on the two sites yet.
