Shawnigan Lake RCMP are looking for the public’s help in identifying a suspect who is believed to have broken into a Royal Canadian Legion early on Remembrance Day.

Police said they were made aware of the break-in at the Royal Canadian Legion along Shawnigan Lake Road around 9 a.m. on November 11th.

Video surveillance from the location showed the suspect arriving in a black pickup and using a tool to cut a lock off of some storage sheds on the property.

“The suspect also damaged the surveillance cameras, but not before video and still photos were obtained,” said Sergeant Chris Manseau, BC RCMP media spokesperson.

“This is a pretty distinctive pickup, and its very likely that this vehicle and suspect will be recognized by a member of the public,” said Manseau.

The suspect vehicle is described as a mid 1990’s black Nissan pickup with a white stripe down the passenger side that does not extend to the box.

Anyone who may recognize the suspect, or the vehicle, is being asked to contact the Shawnigan Lake RCMP Detachment at 250-743-5514.
