80-year-old woman drowns while crab fishing near Sooke

The BC Coroners office has confirmed that they are investigating the death of an 80-year-old woman who drowned while crab fishing in Sooke on October 31st.

The incident occurred around 11 a.m. along the Sooke Marine Boardwalk near Ed Macgregor Park, according to British Columbia Emergency Health Services.

BCEHS confirmed to Victoria Buzz that they received multiple calls regarding a potential drowning at Ed Macgregor Park in Sooke.

Two paramedic units responded and one patient was transported to hospital.

According to reports,  bystanders in the area pulled the woman from the water and performed CPR, but the woman remained unresponsive.
