West Shore RCMP have arrested a woman after she crashed into multiple parked cars in Colwood early Tuesday morning.

Just after 3:15 a.m., on November 30th, RCMP officers were called to the 400 block of Dressler Road in Colwood after residents were awoken to several loud crashes.

Upon quick investigation, residents were unable to locate where the noise had originated  from.

However, upon reviewing home video surveillance, they were able to determine the cause of the crashes.

In the footage an SUV can be seen turning onto Dressler Road, striking a vehicle, bouncing off of it and then finally striking another vehicle on it’s side.

Approximately 15 minutes later, police received another call –  a report that a small SUV had crashed into a fence nearby before taking off again.

During their investigation, police were able to track down the vehicle due to the vehicle identification number (VIN) collected from a piece of its bumper left behind at the first collision. From this, officers were able to determine the same vehicle was responsible for the crashes and damages at both locations.

Using this information, officers attended a residence in Metchosin where they found the SUV and arrested the 42-year old driver. She was allegedly impaired by alcohol.

“The actions of the driver were simply terrifying,” said Constable Alex Bérubé, spokesperson for the West Shore RCMP.

“The rippling effects of impaired driving are devastating and luckily nobody was in the destructive path of the driver.”

The investigation is ongoing.

Anyone with information regarding this incident is asked to contact the West Shore RCMP at 250-474-2264.
