BC health officials report 1,776 new cases of COVID-19 on Wednesday, February 2nd

The BC Ministry of Health reported 1,776 new cases of COVID-19 on Wednesday, February 2nd, with 222 of those being in the Island Health region.

There have been 327,625 cases of COVID-19 since the pandemic began.

New cases were reported in these health regions:

  • Vancouver Coastal Health: 248
  • Fraser Health: 507
  • Island Health: 222
  • Interior Health: 602
  • Northern Health: 197
  • Resident outside Canada: 0

There are currently 25,959 active cases of COVID-19 in the province. 1,593 of those are in the Island Health region.

There are now a total of 988 people in hospital due with COVID-19, 136 of whom are in critical care — ICU or acute care units.

18 new people have died from COVID-related causes, making the provincial death toll 2,643. 6 of those deaths were in The Island Health region.

Outbreaks

There are no new health-care facility outbreaks. The outbreak at Veterans Memorial Lodge has been declared over, for a total of 54 facilities with ongoing outbreaks in the province, with 22 of those outbreaks being in the Island Health region.

Vaccinations

As of Wednesday, February 2nd:

  • 10,811,962 doses of the COVID-19 vaccine have been administered in BC.
