Do you want your home to smell like freshly baked cookies without having to deal with the mess in the kitchen?
Wouldn’t it be nice to skip the whole process and have them delivered straight to your door?
Vancouver Island Cookie Co., Victoria’s newest cookie delivery service, does just that!
The delivery service is currently working hard behind the scenes to perfect the packaging, delivery logistics and testing out the cookies on some very satisfied customers before their official launch.
Soon, customers will be able to purchase half a dozen of their favourite flavours and have them delivered right to their door on Saturdays, the perfect weekend treat.
Tim Thakker, the founder of Vancouver Island Cookie Co., said the idea for the business began in the summer of 2020, when he and his friends started a group chat called the Cookie Soldiers.
The group sent Instagram posts and TikToks of bakeries and restaurants back and forth, all places the group hoped to visit once travel restrictions were relaxed.
Thakker, however, focused on new baking styles and began trying to emulate some of the cookie recipes that intrigued him. He had always had an interest in baking.
Soon, a cookie baking obsession began, which was only fueled when his wife bought him a mixer for Christmas the same year.
Eventually, Thakker had tested and tried hundreds of different recipes and even began creating his own, delivering them to his friends to be cookie tasters.
“You could say that all the money I saved on vacations and eating out during the lockdown went into my research and development budget,” Thakker said.
“I can confirm all the cookie tasters didn’t object.”
These tasters had lots of positive feedback and encouraged him to start a business.
Vancouver Island Cookie Co. is set to launch soon with Chocolate Chip, Earl Grey, Cookies and Cream, Triple Chocolate and Plain cookie flavours.
“Our Earl Grey cookie tries to emulate the taste and texture of dipping a lemon loaf into the tea,” Thakker said.
“If you grew up in a family with an evening tea time, you know what I’m talking about!”
They’re not stopping at that, however—the cookie business is currently perfecting their Orange Cookie, Espresso Cookie and Toffee Cookie, with many more to come in the future!
Thakker also has other big plans for his business, including donating a portion of sales to a charity.
“We recognize the importance of giving back to the community, especially in today’s challenging and unprecedented times,” he said.
“Upon our official launch, we will announce a charity to support, where a portion of sales will go directly to the charity.”
Thakker also plans to run a certified nut-free kitchen and launch gluten-free cookie options.
“You don’t need an occasion or holiday to show someone you care or you’re thinking of them – you just need them to enjoy a delicious gourmet cookie that can be delivered to their house. It’s that simple.”
