Another anchor tenant is rolling back to Hillside Mall.
The front signage was installed this week—a sign that an extra shopping option is coming soon to Greater Victoria.
Construction is anticipated to wrap up on Victoria’s newest Walmart store at Hillside Shopping Centre, facing North Dairy Road.
It’s slated to open this spring, bringing hundreds of new jobs along with it, according to Felicia Fefer.
The chain’s corporate affairs manager says the store created around 200 trade and construction jobs, plus 300 in-store jobs once operational.
Fefer told Victoria Buzz they’re still hiring, and she urges those interested in applying to visit Walmart’s website.
The 139,000 sq. ft space, formerly occupied by Sears, will encompass a “contemporary look and feel,” explains Fefer.
She says it will be a Supercentre offering both groceries and general merchandise, similar to the existing Walmart stores at Uptown and in Langford.
“Customers will also have the option to shop in-store or online and pick up or have their orders delivered to their doors,” added Fefer.
“We are very excited.”
In addition to Walmart opening, a Dollarama is also set to open within Hillside Mall this spring.
