The Independent Investigations Office (IIO) of BC is investigating after a man was seriously injured by a police dog in Saanich this week.
According to the IIO, Saanich Police were called to a disturbance at a home in the 3500-block of Richmond Road around 6 p.m. on Tuesday, May 31st.
Officers arrived on scene and spoke with a man, taking him into custody two and a half hours later with help from a police service dog.
That’s when the man sustained a “serious” dog bite injury and was subsequently taken to the hospital for treatment, the IIO says.
