RCMP seek help locating missing 40-year-old man from Courtenay

Comox Valley RCMP are asking for the public’s help in locating a missing 40-year-old man from Courtenay.

According to police, Justin Smith was reported missing to them on June 4th but hasn’t been heard from since May 27th.

While not many details were release, RCMP said Smith is an avid outdoorsman with extensive knowledge of the region’s backcountry.

He is believed to be travelling in a black 1992 Toyota Hilux with BC plate HB1 32W.

Smith is described as being 6’2″ tall with an average build. He has brown hair and blue eyes and was last known to be wearing a dark work jacket with black Carhartt pants.

“We are still gathering information and speaking with witnesses regarding Justin’s potential whereabouts. We know that he is an outdoorsman and has extensive knowledge and a love for the backcountry here in the Comox Valley,” said Cst. Monika Terragni, Media Relations Officer, Comox Valley RCMP.
