Another day, another stash of cash found on Vancouver Island and turned over to the RCMP.

In a media release Monday, West Shore RCMP said they are looking for the owner of a large sum of money that was handed in to them by a good samaritan last month.

A woman said she was out for a walk in the 600-block of Goldstream Avenue in Langford when she found the cash loose on the ground.

“If you lost an amount of money between $150-$3500, please call the West Shore RCMP at 250-474-2264,” said Constable Meghan Groulx, spokesperson for the West Shore RCMP.

“Thank you to the woman who found the cash and brought it to the detachment in hopes of finding the rightful owner.”

In late June, Nanaimo RCMP also put out a plea after a 37-year-old man found a large amount of money while out for an early morning jog.

Similar to the Langford incident, the money was strewn about and appeared to be folded in half.

The man picked up all of the cash he could find and continued on his run.

When he arrived home, he called the police who took possession of the money.

“Our Good Samaritan was quite shocked by the amount of cash there was and just hopes that the owner can be found and gets reunited with their money,” said Constable Gary O’Brien of the Nanaimo RCMP.

If you lost a significant amount of money in the past four weeks in Langford, give West Shore RCMP a call at 250-474-2264 and quote file number 2022-9473.
