Police resolve incident involving person in crisis in downtown Victoria Sunday night

VicPD have announced the situation involving an armed person in crisis in downtown Victoria Sunday evening has been resolved.

At 9:14 p.m. on August 28th, VicPD tweeted they were responding to an armed person in crisis at the intersection of Pandora and Vancouver.

Witnesses reported the individual was in the McDonalds parking lot.

UPDATE: Just before 1:30 a.m. Monday morning, after hours of VicPD working with the person, the situation was resolved without further incident. VicPD said the person was no longer in crisis, connected them with resources and supports and cleared the scene.⚠️ A large section of downtown Victoria is closed off to the public this evening as an active police incident is unfolding. VicPD say they are dealing with an armed person in crisis at the intersection of Pandora and Vancouver, and witnesses report the individual is in the McDonald’s parking lot.Police are working to resolve the incident safely and have closed several streets in the area.Several businesses in the area have also been evacuated, and police are asking people to avoid the area.Video by Ben Balderson

As a result of the active police incident, streets in the surrounding area were closed and traffic was impacted.

At 11:02 p.m., VicPD tweeted the incident was ongoing. 

Just before 1:30 a.m. Monday morning, after hours of VicPD working with the person, the situation was resolved without further incident. 

VicPD said the person was no longer in crisis, connected them with resources and supports and cleared the scene.
