The Sidney Sparkles Parade will return this Sunday after a three-year hiatus

The Sidney Sparkles Parade is back after a hiatus spanning three years due to the pandemic.

The beloved event almost made a return last year, however, the timing wasn’t on their side due to the uncertainty surrounding COVID-19.

This year, the Peninsular Celebrations Society is excited to announce 50 floats are set to participate in this year’s parade slated for this Sunday, December 4th.

As per past years, the route for this year is set to begin along Resthaven Drive, later turning onto Beacon Avenue.

The parade will run the length of Beacon Avenue, turning right onto Second Street and ending at Ocean Avenue.

While there is no parking right along the direct route, there are public parking lots near.

With the recent cold snap, Greater Victoria has experienced, the PCS advises those in attendance should plan on dressing up in layers to stay dry and warm.

In 2021, the Peninsular Celebrations Society (PCS) was forced to postpone its Sidney Sparkles Parade due to an outbreak of COVID-19.

“After significant consideration, the Sidney Sparkles Christmas Parade steering committee has opted to postpone the return of the holiday parade for 2021 due to an abundance of caution surrounding COVID-19,” PCS said in a statement last year.
