Happy Tuesday, Victoria!

It’s the last day of January and with another winter month behind us, that’s a call for celebration!

From art galleries to panel discussions on the environment, here are 5 things to do in and around Victoria this Tuesday, January 31st:

Heart of the House

This exhibition highlights a selection of art and objects associated with West Coast modernism and the domestic interior from the mid twentieth-century. The works included come from the AGGV’s permanent collection as well as selected private collections.

The exhibition considers these works of art as integral to the concept of modern living that developed in mid-century British Columbia, whether part of a fully integrated interior or simply objects made and enjoyed by artists and collectors active in the mid-20th century.

  • Where: Art Gallery of Greater Victoria, 1040 Moss Street
  • When: Tuesday, January 31st, 10 a.m.

The journey continues with paintings, drawings, and furniture pieces gifted to loved ones.

Deep Sea Mining in the Pacific – Panel Discussion

Deep Sea Mining in the Pacific is a panel discussion with academics, politicians, and activists exploring the impacts that Deep Sea Mining will have in the Pacific Ocean and in the communities that rely on the Pacific Ocean.

The discussion will touch on what deep sea mining is, the role that Canadian mining companies have played in the development of deep sea mining, why there needs to be a moratorium, and how we can move forward.

The event will be hybrid, as some of our speakers are unable to attend in person. We welcome questions from the audience beforehand and on the day of the event.
