A 13-year-old boy has gone missing in Nanaimo and RCMP officers are now asking for the public’s assistance in locating him.

Ben Steven was last seen on January 9th by family members and he was reported missing on January 11th.

Police say that Steven’s disappearance is out of his character and his family are extremely worried for his well-being.

According to police, the RCMP’s school liaison unit has actively been searching for the boy but they’ve had no luck thus far.

“Investigators want Ben to know that he is not in trouble and that the police, his family and friends are all looking for him because they are all concerned for his safety and want him to return home,” said Cst. Gary O’Brien of the Nanaimo RCMP.

Police describe Steven as a Caucasian teenager, standing 5’5” tall, with a slim build, blonde hair and blue eyes.

Steven’s picture of him wearing a red plaid jacket is the most recent photo the family could provide.

No clothing description was provided and Steven does not carry a cell phone.

Police ask that anyone who knows the whereabouts of Ben Steven call Nanaimo RCMP at (250) 754-2345.
