This new Canadian airline is offering round-trip flights starting at $1

Share

Good news for penny-pinching travellers!

Porter Airlines is the newest kid on the block when it comes to discount travel. They operate in Canada with some flights to eastern American cities and their home base is Toronto.

They are offering $1 flights for their inaugural trips beginning February 1st, which are selling out fast.

The only stipulation is that the flights are not actually $1, they are approximately $80 once all the fees and taxes are tacked onto the flight. This is only for the most basic flight package.

They have flights from Vancouver (YVR) to Toronto (YTZ) for a total of $80.81 from February 7th to 9th. All the traveller needs to do is use a promotional code and book it in.

Once someone is booked in with this deal, Porter says they will receive a $150 voucher for their next flight.

One thing to keep in mind with Porter is that most flights from anywhere in the country only go to Toronto and from there you can fly to other destinations

So If someone wanted to fly to Edmonton from Vancouver, they would have to fly to Toronto first, then hop on a second Porter plane to Edmonton.

Once a traveller is in Toronto though, the possibilities grow significantly. From there flights go to several destinations both domestic and international.

Porter does not operate out of Victoria International Airport.

The airline has a fleet of 29 aircrafts that are either Embraer E195-E2s or Dash 8-400s. The Embracer is a fuel efficient aircraft with two jet engines meant for a pleasant passenger experience.

Meanwhile, the Dash has two propeller engines and is meant for shorter distance flights than the Embracer.

Let us know in the comments if you’d be willing to fly with the new airline (if you are Toronto-bound)!
