19-year-old arrested after stabbing incident in Colwood: RCMP

One man is in custody after a stabbing incident in the West Shore Thursday evening.

According to police, a 47-year-old man was stabbed in a residential area of Colwood near Havenwood Park.

On February 2nd, at around 5 p.m., West Shore RCMP responded to a report of a stabbing at a home near the 500-block of Windthrop Road.

Police say when they arrived on scene, a 47-year-old man was found to have suffered a single stab wound. 

The suspect was a 19-year-old man who had remained at the scene and gave himself up to police, according to West Shore RCMP.

The suspect was arrested for aggravated assault without further incident.

Police say that the investigation will be handled by the West Shore RCMP Serious Crimes Unit going forward. 

“The victim was transported to hospital and is receiving care for serious non-life-threatening injuries,” said Cpl. Nancy Saggar, West Shore RCMP Media Relations Officer.

“The suspect remains in custody and police do not believe the public is at risk.”

“No other victims were identified in this crime.”
