An early morning vehicle incident involving a pedestrian has shut down a major section of road near Mayfair Shopping Centre.

Traffic is being diverted from Blanshard Street due to a pedestrian being struck by a motor vehicle Thursday morning.

In an email statement, BC Emergency Health Services told Victoria Buzz one person was transported to hospital in serious condition. They also confirmed the crash was a motor vehicle incident involving pedestrian.

At around 8:30 a.m. on February 9th, VicPD tweeted that they had closed the southbound lanes of Blanshard Street between Tolmie Avenue and Finlayson Street.

“VicPD officers have responded to a motor vehicle incident at Blanshard & Finlayson that was reported just after 6am this morning,” said Const. Terri Healy with VicPD. “The report was that a vehicle struck a pedestrian but I don’t know what officers encountered when they arrived or an update on the incident.”

Police say officers are on the scene diverting traffic and investigating the collision.

As more details become available, this story will be updated.
