West Shore RCMP are seeking help from the public in identifying a suspect who discharged a firearm in the early hours yesterday.

On Monday, February 20th at about 12:25 a.m., West Shore RCMP say they received several 911 calls from residents near Irwin Road.

Reports recalled two to three loud bangs near the entrance of Jordie Lunn Bike Park located at 2990 Irwin Road in Langford.

One witness reported encountering a male suspect holding a firearm.

Upon arrival, West Shore RCMP officers immediately secured several blocks after it was confirmed the suspect was last seen heading eastbound on Irwin Road and crossing in front of the entrance to the bike park.

A police dog was brought to the scene and later located casings at a construction site near this location.

The suspect, who was not located, is described by police as a Caucasian man, between the ages of 40 to 50 years old, standing at 6 ‘1” tall and weighing approximately 250-300 pounds.

He was last seen wearing a white shirt, light-coloured pants and light coloured shoes with a baseball cap.

The West Shore RMCP serious crimes unit are actively investigating the incident by canvassing the area seeking both witnesses and video surveillance.

A witness who lives nearby told Victoria Buzz they heard the gun discharged and described it as coming from what they believed to be a high caliber gun.

Anyone with information or surveillance footage of this suspect are asked to call the West Shore RCMP detachment at 250-474-2264.
