On Wednesday afternoon, a barge appeared to have washed ashore on Willows Beach, but that wasn’t the case at all.
The barge was there for a job — moving a house.
Onlookers gathered and began taking photos as they wondered if Oak Bay was about to have a ‘Barge Chilling Beach’ like Vancouver had for months last year in English Bay.
Not much is known about where exactly the house is going, but an Oak Bay employee did confirm with Victoria Buzz that the house is being reused from where it came from a few blocks away and is going to be transported to an American Gulf Island.
In a public notice posted by Oak Bay, the house is being moved from 2652 Anscomb Place in Oak Bay to the Barge. A near 500 metre move for the structure.

The loading began at around 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday afternoon and is to be completed by 10 p.m.
More to come.
