An investigation is underway after several vehicle were damage in a hit-and-run last week.

On Monday, February 27th, Comox Valley RCMP began receiving calls at 6:15 p.m. when a witness reported an erratic driver operating a pick-up truck in the 5300-block of Island Highway North.

A short time later, another witness reported the driver of the same pick-up vehicle had clipped the mirror on his vehicle while travelling northbound on the highway at Smith Road.

There were two additional calls that came in right after stating the driver of this vehicle had crashed into their vehicles. One was on the 2700-block of Island Highway and the other further up in 6000-block of the Island Highway.

“The pick-up truck was located, abandoned, on Merville Road just west of Headquarters Road in Courtenay and a suspect was located and arrested nearby,” said Cst. Monika Terragni, media relations officer, Comox Valley RCMP.

Police said they’re looking to speak with anyone who saw this pick-up truck in the area between 6 p.m. and 6:45 p.m. and might have dashcam footage of the driving behaviour before the vehicle was abandoned.

The pick-up truck is a grey 2018 Ford F-150, BC licence plate RD298V.

Witnesses or anyone with dashcam footage is asked to call the Comox Valley RCMP at (250) 338-1321 and refer to file 2023-3037.
