Two people are in hospital after being struck by a vehicle earlier this week in Parksville.

The incident occurred on Monday, March 6th, at around 3:30 p.m., at the intersection of Island Highway West and Moilliet Street North, near Paradise Mini Golf.

Both pedestrians were transported to hospital by BC Ambulance. One remains in hospital in critical but stable condition and the second pedestrian received minor injuries.

Sgt. Shane Worth of Oceanside RCMP said the driver of the vehicle remained at the scene and is cooperating with the investigation.

Police have ruled out driver impairment as a contributing factor to the collision.

The roadway was partially closed at the time to permit a scene analysis and was re-opened later in the evening.

The cause of the crash remains under investigation.

Witnesses or those with dashcam video of the area are asked to call Oceanside RCMP at 250-248-6111.
