A pedestrian in a wheelchair was hospitalized with serious but non-life threatening injuries after being struck by a BC Transit bus Tuesday night in downtown Victoria.
The incident occurred just before 8 p.m. near the intersection of Douglas Street and Belleville Street.
“Our thoughts are with the pedestrian, driver, passengers and all those involved in the incident,” said a BC Transit spokesperson.
“We are supporting the police investigation into this matter, and if anyone witnessed this incident, we ask that they contact the Victoria police. As this is an active investigation, any further requests for information should be directed at the police.”
“Our top priority is safety,” BC Transit added.
Photos from the scene shows the wheelchair pinned beneath the front of the bus.
VicPD confirmed traffic analysts responded to the scene but couldn’t provide more details as the investigation is ongoing.
