Police are turning to the public in hopes of identifying a woman who tossed another person’s camera bag into a pond in Beacon Hill Park earlier this week.

Greater Victoria Crime Stoppers posted on social media on behalf of VicPD to try to identify the woman who took a photographer’s camera and bag and threw them into a pond at Beacon Hill Park.

On Tuesday, May 9th, a woman was taking pictures of birds in the park when she was confronted by another woman.

According to police, the two women “exchanged words” which led to the suspect taking the victim’s camera bag and throwing it in a nearby lake.

The camera bag contained a high-end camera and accessories which cumulatively cost around $3,000.

Before the suspect could get away, the victim was able to capture a picture of the suspect while she rudely gestured two middle fingers at her.

The suspect is wanted for mischief under $5,000.

Greater Victoria Crime Stoppers are asking that anyone that knows who she is report her name anonymously by calling 1-800-222-8477 or submit a tip online.
