BC SPCA offering 50% off pet adoption fees for cats this weekend

Get ready to open your hearts and homes to furry friends because the BC SPCA is offering 50% off all cat adoption fees in honor of National Adopt-a-Cat Month.

During spring and summer, when kitten season reaches its peak, a considerable number of these adorable kittens end up in the care of the BC SPCA.

The observance of Adopt-a-Cat Month serves as a poignant reminder of the numerous feline companions eagerly awaiting their forever homes in BC SPCA animal centers throughout the province.

By adopting a cat, you’re not only providing them with a loving home but also freeing up much-needed space in the animal care facilities for other animals in need.

The half-price adoption event will take place the entire weekend from Thursday, June 22nd, to Sunday, June 25th at all BC SPCA locations.

“Cats come into the BC SPCA’s care for a number of reasons,” said Adrienne McBride, the BC SPCA’s senior director for Community Animal Centres.

“Some are strays, some are surrendered because their guardians are moving to homes where pets aren’t allowed, or they just aren’t able to care for them. Cats are also seized by our Animal Protection Officers.”

The goal of the BC SPCA, says McBride, is to provide emergency treatment and a safe, loving environment for animals – either at an SPCA facility or in a foster home – until a new family can be found.

“Many people aren’t aware of just how affectionate and loving a cat can be,” says McBride. “They are often a great companion to other animals in the home as long as the proper introductions are made.”
