Just a heads up if you’re planning on heading to the beach.
The Capital Regional District has issued an advisory for Island View Beach in Central Saanich after a nearby wastewater discharge occurred earlier this week.
As a precautionary measure, the water quality advisory has been issued in consultation with Island Health, due to the potential health risks posed by the discharge.
Signs have been posted around the beach and is expected to remain in place for at least a week until tests confirm the sewage discharge is not affecting the immediate marine environment.
Visitors are being warned to avoid swimming in the ocean and to keep their animals on a leash to prevent them from drinking or swimming in the water until further notice.
