Port Alberni nurse stripped of license for ‘sexual misconduct’ with patients

Share

A nurse in Port Alberni has had his license to practice revoked for engaging in sexual misconduct with one specific patient for years.

On June 9th, the British Columbia College of Nurses and Midwives (BCCNM) Inquiry Committee held a panel to review the conduct of Aaron Forrester, a former licensed practical nurse (LPN) in Port Alberni.

Between November 2019 and May 2020, Forrester is alleged to have crossed several boundaries and in December of 2020, he began engaging in sexual misconduct with that patient.

The patient who became Forrester’s victim was a vulnerable psychiatric patient who was repeatedly readmitted, either voluntarily or involuntarily. The former nurse would continuously engage in inappropriate sexual misconduct with them whenever they were readmitted.

The BCCNM Inquiry Committee came to the decision that Forrester should have his registration as a nurse cancelled, without possibility of reapplying for five years.

If he ever does reapply to become a registered nurse once again, the Inquiry Committee will need to be satisfied that Forrester meets the requirements of fitness, competence, and good character.

Forrester voluntarily agreed to the terms given to him by the Inquiry Committee.
