The 24th annual Ska & Reggae Festival happening in Victoria this week

Share

Victoria, we’re in for a full weekend of good music and fantastic memories!

In case you didn’t know, the Ska & Reggae Festival has returned for their 24th year and the lineup is looking hot!

The five-day event kicked off on Wednesday, June 21st and it runs until June 25th.

Hosted by The Victoria BC Ska Society, the festival has become one of the largest festivals in North America and has brought in both well-known and emerging artists like Toots and the Maytals, Mos Def, Fishbone, Mighty Mighty Bosstones, Katchafire, and The Black Seeds.

The Victoria BC Ska Society first presented the festival in 2004.

Since then, it has continued to entertain, educate, and unite audiences through the artistic development of ska, reggae, and other Jamaican rooted genres such as rocksteady, dub and dancehall.

They also feature genres such as Caribbean, various styles of Latin music, soul, jazz, and world beat!

Described as passionate, and powerful, they hope to bring the audience a unique mix of genres and provide a program of events that will have something for everyone — including a lineup of free shows, family-friendly events, and free music workshops.

Tickets can be purchased online or in person! Both VIP and general passes are available.

Curious about the vibe? No problem! They have pre-made, curated playlists just for you!
