The Victoria Jazz Society has announced that this October, the Jazz at Lincoln Center Orchestra will be performing at The Farquhar, located on the University of Victoria campus.
Jazz at Lincoln Center Orchestra (JLCO) is a band composed of some of the finest jazz soloists and ensemble players today — led by nine-time Grammy winner and world-renowned trumpeter, bandleader, and composer Wynton Marsalis!
This versatile orchestra has performed music and led arts/cultural educational events across the globe — their goal being to enrich, inspire, and entertain others with the power of jazz and continuously bring young people into the world of music.
“Representing the totality of jazz music, Jazz at Lincoln Center’s mission is carried out through four elements—educational, curatorial, archival, and ceremonial—capturing, in unparalleled scope, the full spectrum of the jazz experience,” the JLCO website said.
“Because jazz is improvisational, it celebrates personal freedom and encourages individual expression.”
