Thousands of dollars have been raised for a grieving family after the sudden loss of a beloved community member in Langford.
A GoFundMe campaign has been launched in response to the passing of 40-year-old Phil Rendall, who passed away suddenly in his sleep on Monday, July 17th.
The fundraising campaign, thoughtfully initiated by Julie Cordne, aims at providing comfort and financial assistance to Phil’s wife, Melissa, and their three young daughters, Mackenzie (11), Khloe (9), and Kaylee (5).
Phil’s impact on the community has been described as far-reaching, as he was not only the owner of Infinity Heating & Ventilation but also an individual dedicated to giving back.
Through sponsorships of youth and adult sports, he endeared himself to many, leaving an indelible mark on the lives of countless individuals.
As a devoted sports enthusiast, Phil’s presence could often be found on the sidelines, coaching his children’s soccer matches or cheering on his daughter during lacrosse games, read the GoFundMe.
In addition, he was also a dedicated member of The Thunder hockey team for 12 years.
“The Royal Colwood Golf Club was his home away from home,” read the GoFundMe.
“To know Phil was to love him. He lived every day to the fullest and went out of his way to always make it fun for everyone.”
Beyond the emotional toll on his wife and the girls, his loss has also created financial challenges, as he was the sole income provider for their family.
In light of the family’s difficult circumstances, Cordne launched the GoFundMe campaign, seeking the community’s support to alleviate some of the burdens faced by Melissa and her daughters.
The campaign aims to assist with funeral expenses and provide financial support during this challenging period of uncertainty and transition for the family.
As of this publication, $92,964 raised of the $100,000 goal has been raised.
Contributions from friends, acquaintances, and even strangers have been pouring in.
