The Oak Bay Police Department has launched an investigation into a dumpster fire that occurred in earlier this month.
The incident occurred just before 4 a.m. on July 4th, behind a commercial property in the 2800-block of Foul Bay Road.
The incident, reported by the Oak Bay Fire Department, has been deemed suspicious in nature, prompting authorities to seek the public’s assistance in identifying a potential witness.
According to preliminary findings, a small, late model, light-coloured pickup truck, carrying two trash cans in its bed, was spotted in the vicinity around the time the fire started.
Oak Bay Police said they are keen on speaking with the driver of this vehicle, believing they might possess vital information relevant to the investigation.
As part of their ongoing efforts, police have released two photos of the vehicle in question to aid the public in recognizing and providing any relevant leads.
Oak Bay Police are urging anyone with knowledge of the truck’s identity or the driver’s whereabouts to contact them.
