It’s time to put your best Pride outfit back on — yes, there will be prizes for best dressed!
Intamo Pleasurables, a local queer-owned and operated pleasure shop, is hosting their third Pride Party in collaboration with Burb this Saturday, July 15th.
It’s free to attend and they’re expecting it to be the biggest and best yet!
Join this dynamic duo at the Fernwood Community Center Park for a lineup of fantastic entertainment — including DJ sets from local artists Njoki Njoki and Triikstr, a free BBQ, skate park activities, and games.
“It’s an opportunity for community building…and celebrating Queer love and joy,” said Steph Hutchinson, employee at Intamo Pleasurables.
“It’s going to be a laid back, big kickback with old friends…and new ones.”
Hutchinson noted how much these celebrations are needed after a tough year for the Queer community and how important it is to continuously provide support.
“Queer and trans people deserve more than just survival.”
What better way to bring everyone together and celebrate inclusivity than a Pride Party!?
And just when you thought this event couldn’t get any better, Hutchinson is happy to announce the return of a crowd favourite — the Lube Olympics!
Yep, you heard correctly! There’s a dildo toss, lube basketball, and more.
“You lube up your hands and reapply after each toss to keep yourself slicked up,” said Hutchinson.
“As slick and smooth as possible…it was an absolute riot last year.”
Not only will there be a bundle of friendship-building activities, there’s also going to be a huge raffle with a wide variety of prizes from nearly 40 sponsors.
So, make sure you check out the booths to see what’s available!
Hutchinson says this event doesn’t have anything specifically catered towards kids and there will, of course, be mature products on site, but they won’t turn anyone away.
The Pembroke Street entrance to the park is the most wheelchair accessible.
Intamo Pleasurables has been a staple in Fernwood as well as the Queer and allied community since they opened their doors.
Their mission is to provide a safe space for all with a focus on healthy sex education while guaranteeing quality products made from plant-based ingredients.
